Melony joined Marshmallow’s Hope June 1st of 2024 and is a Licensed Psychotherapist.  She earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Concordia University in 2016 and her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services in 2001 from Judson University.  Melony has over 20 years of experience working locally in the not-for-profit sector, at the Executive level.  Melony’s experience was gained in a variety of settings including work in residential group homes, a worldwide not for profit, crisis intervention in a State licensed Child Welfare Agency, a Level I and Level II Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment facility, and 8 years of experience working in Private Practice Mental Health Clinics with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups. Melony has served as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for Shatter Our Silence, a local suicide prevention and education program for youth and young adults.  She has worked in Management and Leadership roles for over 20 years, and will be a welcomed addition to our team at Marshmallow’ Hope.

Melony believes the therapeutic relationship is the most important key to your success.  You can expect that Melony will meet you where you are at, and work in a collaborative process to identify your obstacles and create goals for your treatment.  Melony shows up authentically, in hopes that it will inspire you to do the same.  A safe space that fosters growth and independence, at your comfort level, will be provided for you, so that you arrive at your determined destination.  Treating the whole person-mind, body and soul, is an integral part of Melony’s work with clients, having a holistic health focus.  Who you are as a person, your core values, interests, passions, and hopes and dreams will be a factored into your work, as each person is unique and requires a plan tailored to suit them well.  

Melony’s therapeutic style is warm and compassionate, eclectic, interactive, and integrative.  Her approach combines Person Centered, Solution Focused, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Existential, Narrative, Positive Psychology, Motivational Interviewing and Trauma Focused Care and Processing Techniques.  Melony is a Level III Brainspotting Practitioner and a Certified Trauma Specialist.  Her specialties include Addiction-Substance Abuse and Process Addictions, Trauma, and work with couples and families.  Melony has experience working with clients on a variety of common concerns such as unexpected life changes and transitions, relationships issues, family dynamics, parenting, divorce care, blended family issues, compassion fatigue, shame and guilt, low self-esteem, loneliness, depression, anxiety, OCD, mood disorders, bullying, abuse, abandonment, attachment disorders, and grief and loss.  As a former military wife, Melony also works with veterans and military families.  She is an Ally in the LGBTQIA Community.  It is her personal belief that we should all get to be the people we were intended to be, and live happy and healthy lives.
